Research and education on plant cell and tissue culture both have a long history in the Netherlands. Within Wageningen University and Research Centre (Wageningen UR) researchers and lecturers have joined forces and concentrated their activities in plant cell and tissue culture. This led to the formation of the Wageningen Tissue Culture Centre, WTCC.

The WTCC aims to co-ordinate and fine-tune both research as well as education on technologies using tissue culture in one form or another. The WTCC will probe the demand for research and education, not only in The Netherlands but world-wide. Representatives of the WTCC will approach clients in a targeted manner. It presents potential users or customers with one office-window, with one address for information, research assignments or theoretical and practical courses. The WTCC will provide easy access to tissue culture expertise and know-how. The WTCC will present itself by posters, slides, press releases, handouts and through this web page. Research results will be communicated during symposia and conferences.
